The arrow highlights, essentially, the highest bidder’s PPC ad. How is that fair and most people will not know the arrow is a navigation tool. They will assume it means the ad is “special” and click it. Very unfair!

In order to keep the PPC competitive landscape fair, I think Google needs to keep the arrow below the fold (on the natural listings).

The arrow highlights, essentially, the highest bidder's PPC ad. How is that fair and most people will not know the arrow is a navigation tool. They will assume it means the ad is "special" and click it. Very unfair!

Bidding wars, here we go!

Thank you for the information about keyboard navigation and return hit. I think this is a useful innovation on google's part, because with the keyboard you can be faster and you don't have to reach for the mouse.

However I find your comparison to "I feel lucky" is not apt. "I feel lucky" is that you don't know what will come up and risk it, however this instant arrow allows you to know what will come up and you by pressing return long enough or twice the result marked by the arrow will come up. I don't see much in common with "I feel lucky."

Then I liked the part where you predict increased ad returns and increased hits for #1 pages.

I enjoyed your article. Thanks again.
